Alexander's cell phone worked just fine in Finland, thanks to the Europe-wide GSM network. This is one of the czar's dachas, in what is now the Finnish part of Karelia.

(I met a girl in Seattle who had worked at an orphanage in the Russian part of Karelia. She said there was a lot of Finnish spoken there, and people thought she was Finnish too.)
