This map is upside down; north is at the bottom. Downtown is the
left (east) piece of land. The River Ness runs from the Moray Firth
(bottom, connected to the North Sea) to Loch Ness (some thirty miles
out of town). The other "river" is the Caledonian Canal, which is
man-made and goes on all the way to the Atlantic Ocean.
