Patriarch's Pond #2

Cafe Margarita, named after the novel. The only cafe (in the Western sense) I saw in Russia. There were other "cafes", but they were really bars (in the tavern sense).

The avant-garde artwork on the door conveys the feel of the book, as well as the cover of my copy of it. The man in the top hat is the magician. In his hand he holds the head of Berlioz (not the composer), whose death he correctly predicts. On the top right is Margarita, who has become a witch, flying on her broomstick. In the bottom right is the black cat Behemoth. All this of course is political satire against the Party.
