WTO II #7 -- the arrests
The arrests took an hour and a half. I left before they actually
started, because we couldn't see anything anyway. The cops formed a
block-long wall between the protesters and the observers which you
couldn't see over. Perhaps that was their strategy, because there were
the expected complaints of brutality and provocation and not letting
people out when they wanted to leave peaceably, but no way to
independantly confirm them because we couldn't see what was going on.
I wish I had a friend who worked in one of those high-rise office
towers so I could get a view from above. Coincidentally, the arrests
started after 9pm, after the shopping mall closed. (Coincidentally,
because the shopperz could have just looked down on the scene.)
